Beneteau Oceanis 50 Yacht Restoration
From heavily oxidised and neglected to polished and sale-ready — a full exterior restoration in Williamstown.

The Challenge
This Beneteau Oceanis 50 had sat largely unused for years. Its previous owner held the boat for 14 years but rarely used it, and without regular maintenance, the yacht was left to weather season after season at the dock. By the time it changed hands to a yacht broker preparing it for resale, the exterior showed the full extent of that neglect.
The gelcoat was severely oxidised, leaving the hull dull, chalky and far from showroom-ready. Years of grime had worked into the non-skid surfaces, the stainless steel fittings had lost their shine, and the entire exterior required significant correction before the yacht could be presented as a serious resale prospect.
Restoring a 50-foot sailboat after this level of neglect meant more than simply addressing the most visible issues. Every exterior surface needed attention to bring the yacht back to a clean, presentable and sale-ready condition.

The Restoration Process
Marine Plus Detailing carried out a full exterior restoration over seven days, totalling approximately 55 hours on site at Savages Wharf. The process began with correcting the severely oxidised gelcoat, followed by acid washing to remove years of built-up grime from the non-skid areas. Stainless steel fittings were polished back to a high shine, the entire exterior was meticulously detailed, and a fresh antifoul application completed the restoration ahead of sale.
The Result
The finished yacht looked nothing like the boat that arrived. A full exterior transformation lifted its presentation and its market value, putting it back into saleable condition for its new owner. Neglected, heavily oxidised boats like this one tend to deliver the most dramatic before-and-after results, and the Oceanis 50 was no exception.
